How a newcomer becomes a center of attention at the HVAC industry’s main event
Thermal Energy HQ at AHR Las Vegas—show report and update
February 2025—we want to bring our friends, colleagues and customers up to speed on our latest news, and specifically our debut (so to speak) as Thermal Energy HQ at the AHR Expo just held in Las Vegas, Nevada the beginning of this month.
AHR is the HVAC industry’ premiere event, with over 40,000 attendees converging on over 12,000 exhibitors from 40 countries. For Thermal Energy HQ (TEHQ) it also provided the ideal venue to mark our transition into thermal energy storage, since there were only a handful of participating companies showing storage solutions—and none showing anything new.
With one exception
TEHQ’s walk-in modular 700 gallon Thermal Tank actually had visitors lined up to step inside and see it from that perspective—to the point of having their picture taken with it.

Having such an unique presentation for a first-time exhibitor with an equally unique and innovative technology on display opened the door for a number of high-quality discussions with potential partners ranging from CHP (combined heat & power) equipment makers, heat pump manufacturers, potential distributors and customers, and specialized applications solutions providers ranging from multi-dwelling unit residential (MDUs) to data centers requiring advanced cooling schemes.
Many took advantage of the opportunity to directly connect with our founder, leading technologist and president Garth Schultz as well as our CEO Rob Kornahrens and discuss collaboration strategies. While coming from different segments and perspectives, they shared in common the desire to put surplus thermal energy generated by their processes to work, by storing it efficiently and economically for use when most advantageous to their operations. They could easily grasp how Thermal Energy HQ’s modular tank technology can make that possible.
As an added bonus and preview of things to come, TEHQ also unveiled several new products in the pipeline: a smaller residential version of our 700 gallon tank complete with Heat Pump, and SkyRadiance—a passive radiative cooling film from 3M which uses patented water-cascading technology originally developed for our hybrid photo-voltaic/thermal (PV/T) systems to create a low-energy consumption cooling system ideal for use in areas with scarce water resources.
Meeting the press
In addition, our press release distributed at the opening of the AHR Expo was picked up by well over 300 new outlets and publications, including the “heavy hitters” AP and Google News along with ABC, CBS, Fox News and NBC affiliates around the country. That’s in addition to dozens of business, trade and technical journals serving a range of industries including energy, facilities, construction and more.
Next up: TEHQ will be exhibiting at CMPX in Toronto, March 25-27, Canada’s “ultimate event for HVACR and Plumbing.”
